Here are some specific things you can do this week to help you or someone you know persevere through extraordinary circumstances:

If you are in the midst of enduring an extraordinary circumstance, take the time to apply the things you learned from this week’s message. First, rely on God by taking the time to pray. Commit to relying on Him. Then, find friends and family who you can rely on to help you endure. Finally, identify the extraordinary sacrifices you need to make in order to persevere. Find a way to begin making those sacrifices this week.

Do you know someone who is the midst of extraordinary circumstances? Take time this week to do something for that person that will let them know they can rely on you during this time. You might send them a card or a gift, take them out for a meal or, make a phone call or simply send an email.

Here are some specific things you can do this week to help you overcome the disappointments of life and focus on what matters most:

In the movie, Carl discovers Ellie’s childhood scrapbook, which contains photos of their life along with a note thanking him for the “adventure” they lived together. Consider making a scrapbook of your entire life or a particular season of your life. This scrapbook can serve as a reminder of what is most important in life, and can foster gratitude for the blessings God has given you.

If you are in the midst of dealing with disappointment or the letdown from unfulfilled dreams, take some time to talk it over with someone else. Allow them to speak words of encouragement into your life. Also, pray and ask God for His encouragement and strength. Spend time thinking about Jeremiah 29:11. Ask God to renew your hope and vision for the future.

Here are some specific things you can do this week to help you respond to those in need:

Ask yourself who God is calling you to bless and serve. Maybe He’s moving you to be a “big brother or sister” to a child, or perhaps to tutor a child. Other great ways to make a difference are to mentor someone, to help a single parent or widow, to genuinely befriend a lonely person, or even to adopt a child or become a foster parent. Put a plan into action starting today that will enable you to begin the process of serving your own “Michael.” Begin the process by praying and asking God to guide your steps as you start this journey.

Pastor Craig shared that when we ask God for opportunities to serve others, He will give us those opportunities. As you pray this week, ask God for a chance to serve others and be sure to take that chance when it comes.
